

Ruban not only my dearest friend for the last 74 years but also my beloved Sahalan as we both are married to sisters which most of the people know. Our friendship began in Urumpirai Saivathamil school in grade 1 class and we used to sit in the same bench always in all the classes up to prep (O) level and after that he went to colombo Ratmalana Hindu College for further our school days in Saivathamil School Urumpirai being seated together we did enough naughty things in the class and get punished by the Head Teacher then sir of Idaikaadu almost every week or so for our naughty behaviour . one day for the mistake I made, Head Teacher thought it was done by Ruban and caned him heavily. I did not want him to get punished for the mistake I made, immediately went forward and told the Head Teacher the truth, until then Ruban never told him that the mistake was done by me and the punishment turned towards The above incident shows his true friendship with me from the childhood. He left loads of beautiful memories with us and it will never fade away. He had the very best wife Sothy and they both lived a very happy life for 51 years and 8 months. Sothy looked after him very well up to the last minute. their children Yalini, Brenden, In Laws and grand children are gifted to them by God. He passed away in the presence of his beloved wife, children and grandchildren which is the greatest gift by the God in a man's life. We are sure he reached the Golden Lotus feet of the almighty Katpakavinayakaperuman and he will be with his family to give them strength to bear this unbearable loss.
