Vijey Teacher was the kind of educator who changed lives. She had a rare gift for seeing potential in her students — sometimes before they saw it in themselves — and she nurtured that potential with both confidence and challenge. A lot of these students were minorities (like Sri Lankan Tamils) who didn't have many role models or people telling them they were capable of excellence. For me, this meant Vijey teacher was one of the first people other than my parents to see excellence in me, which helped me build confidence as a kid. From what I saw, she did the same thing for hundreds of other students. She was also incredibly devoted to education - running VV Tutoring / OII wasn't just a job for her, she poured her heart into it and worked around the clock to help students succeed. Her impact on her students and the Sri Lankan Tamil community in Toronto is immeasurable. Her legacy lives on in the many students whose lives she shaped. We will miss you Vijey teacher.
