Nevertheless to say, Prof Mageswaran and Prof (Mrs) Mageswaran were the pillars of the Chemistry Department during our time at the University of Jaffna (1988 - 1992). Even though my interest in Chemistry started at school, both Professors were definitely my true inspiration to choose Chemistry as my main subject at University. After Prof Mageswaran's early demise, I had a few chances to meet with Prof (Mrs) Mageswaran at Jaffna University and in the UK too. Just before the pandemic it was a pleasure to meet Prof (Mrs) Mageswaran at a friend's home in December 2019, but never realised it was our last meeting in person. Even though both Professors are not with us anymore, like many of their former students, I will always be thankful to both of them for building a good chemistry foundation, which has been a great help throughout my career.
