Late Prof. Mrs.R. Mageswaran and her husband Prof. S. Mageswaran were the pillars of chemistry department of University of Jaffna. Their dedication for the development of chemistry department was imeasurable. During their period, chemistry department was one of the best in the country despite all the troubles prevailed at that time. Hundreds of former students are still having a succesful career in the field of chemistry, due to the selfless service provided by both Mr and Mrs Maheswaran. May her soul rest at the feet of lord Shiva. My heartfelt condolences to her next of kins and relatives.
