I was deeply saddened by the loss of Prof (Mrs) Maheswaran. I was a student of her at the university of Jaffna during the difficult years between 1984 and 1989. Although I have not had a close contact with her during these years, I am so fortunate to have been able to spend time with her in the UK after her retirement. I don’t mourn here rather celebrate her life of dedication because she and Prof Maheswaran were two pillars of chemistry department and real gift to many of us. You both will be remembered as civil war time heroes/leaders in Chemistry and for transforming the life of many of your students. May her soul Rest In Peace.
