Wise, courageous, outspoken and compassionate. Determined and radical. Fiercely intellectual. Loving. It’s hard to find the words that could capture even a dimension of Rajan Uncle. Harder even to imagine a world or our family without him. He and I have not spent much time in the same room, him in the US and me in Australia. And yet he is always with me, shaping how I see the world, reminding me to be honest and brave, encouraging my voice and my pen. He’s Ann uncle, and a parent, a mentor and a guide.
