I don't have words to describe how I miss my chilhood friend, neighbor, (uncle), drinking buddy and how sad I was when I missed his final days to console Rani and Yaso and the rest of his children. After GCE-OL, I left home and went to Jaffna Hindu, then the University and off to Canada in 1969, which broke up our frequent visits to Varany -PM, Rajaratnam for the good toddy. The Varany visits might have gone for nearly 12 years from 1957-69!!! Even his work places in Anuradhapura, Nikerawatiya were full of celebrations which I used to attend. Unfortunately I did not know much of "his holi-side of life" and I was not part of it. All in all, he was a great friend to me in our formative years after his "dear sister" suddenly died. Most of it are now "distant memory" . May his soul rest in peace. I remember and pray for him every day. I remain, His dear friend and nephew.
