Anton Sahayanathan, known to most people as Gune Mama, Annan, Thumbi, and Thatha, was an inspiration to his family, friends, and many new people who have learned to know and love him. As my niece stated “he is the rock that holds our family together.” He was a loving and humble person, showed no greed, always had the heart to give but never expected anything in return, and most importantly was a father figure to all. He took care of everyone for generations to come from my mother all the way to my three year old nieces and nephews, he supported and guided many people, and sought out to live life to the fullest, never showing a frown up on his face, having the most enthusiastic personality. People always point out how our family is always modest and the amount of love we show everyone, I know that this was the doing of my uncle. He is not only my uncle, but my father and my best friend. He has sheltered me and my mom when we first came to Canada, supported us the most in what we believed in, and made us the successful people we are today. I can’t bare the pain which is going through me and my family in the loss of a great and righteous man, but even lost he will never be forgotten, he lives in our hearts and in our memories, looking down at us from heaven above, waiting for all of us to soon meet again. Knowing him, he’s probably praying for our well being even while he’s in paradise. I can honestly say he is a gift made by God himself. I love you Mama, I will always miss you pulling me out of my house to go out, I will miss annoying you and teasing you, I will miss your laughter, I will miss your smile, I will especially miss your amazing sense of fashion, but most importantly I will miss the amazing times we shared, We will all soon meet you again, so have fun while it lasts because I’m for sure coming to annoy you again like I always do, again I love you, God bless and rest in paradise, you really deserve it.
