It is with deepest sadness that I write this tribute for Thurai Uncle, who was my mother’s older brother. Thurai uncle was kind, loving and he always had a soft spot for my mother as she did him. He was a family man and a good hearted soul. My mother regularly tells us stories of their youth, growing up in Sri Lanka and how Thurai uncle always looked out for her, right until the day she left for London. I know that even after this he was a tremendous support for her. I have fond memories of Thurai uncle and his family during my visits to Canada and also when he visited London, in 2018. I will never forget that he and Auntie enjoyed the London tour bus so much - that they both fell asleep! More than anything I wanted to express my gratitude to Thurai uncle, thank you for being a source of comfort for my mother throughout her life. I know your presence will leave a void in her life especially after the loss of her mother, last December. To Kowsi Acca and Kajee Acca- your father was incredibly proud of you both and of all his grandchildren. Your father was a pillar for the family and his love will always support and guide you. Thurai Uncle - God has called you, I hope you rest in peace. Say hello to Ammamma. Lots of love, Keerthana & Family and Rubanah
