Our heartfelt condolence to Vasanthan's loved ones on the loss of your dear one. Dr. Vasanthakumar was a socially conscious educator and a spirited community activist over three decades. He was the founder of Computek Institute in Toronto, an excellent debater, actively involved with the Canadian Tamil Chamber of Commerce(CTCC), SACEM, the community organization, and most importantly with Uduppiddi American Mission College (UAMC) Alumni association, via Vaanavil. Dr. Vasanthakumar was instrumental in amending the original name of SACEM to current Society for the Aid of Community EMpowerment, following a long discussion with him and the rationale for same. He and his friends made the Vaanavil program be the reference point with the emergence of many alumni associations. I cherish the memory of his participation in the 'Dinner with Friends' in the late 1990s, with the late Principal Kanagasabapathy, among others. We remember you. It was difficult to find people of his caliber to be so deeply involved with the emerging community in Greater Toronto. Vasanthan's demise is indeed a great loss to the community. May he be blessed to take his eternal rest with our thoughts that he had a life well lived.
