I was privileged to have known Santhanasamy from my schooldays. He was a popular football player and head prefect at St Henry's College, Illavalai. Growing up in the same village and college, he used to take us into his village cricket and football teams when we played inter-village matches. He was also president of the Young Lions sports club in Illavalai. Additionally, we have known his involvement in the church activities and singing. Here in the UK, we continued our friendship through our past pupil's associations. When I was a committee member along with his brother-in-law Bobby Gengatharan (who was secretary), he assisted us with his support and constant presence. Santhanasamy was a calm and helpful community man, willing to get involved in settling disputes with his peaceful ways and intuition. It was indeed a shock to us all that he has passed so suddenly and he will be missed by all of us. May God grant him eternal bliss.
