My dearest Thatha, I will fondly cherish the memories that we shared together over the past 31 years. I was particularly lucky to have spent so much time with you and Ammamma during my university exchange program in Canada. Your love for motorcycles was equally thrilling and terrifying to witness. It was a stark juxtaposition to your “safer” hobbies of yoga and gardening! But your cheeky side was never far away - such as telling Ammamma you would one day take her on a joy ride on a motorbike (of course she never allowed this) and doing handstands in front of me when she wasn’t watching! As I entered my adulthood, I consciously inherited your meticulous organisational skills. I still try to emulate the precision with which you can fold and pack. When I was packing my suitcase to leave Canada one day, your superior skills rescued me from my futile efforts to close the suitcase by sitting on it. Although I am immensely saddened my two children were unable to meet you in person, I will be sure to share all my memories of you with them. They were fortunate to have their great grandfather for at least a part of their lives. I hope you are still chasing motorcycles in your next life. Rest in eternal peace, Thatha.
