We are so saddened by the demise of dear uncle on 7th Sept. 2020 in Canada. I knew him from the time I got married to Gnanasothy of Suthumalai in 1967, for almost 53 years now. She was his niece from his father Muthusamy's side of Suthumalai. I was at that time working as a lecturer at the Institute of Surveying and Mapping, Diyatalawa, Sri Lanka. He was working in Badulla and had invited us to his home there for a visit. We went for a weekend and stayed with him for a couple of days. That was a very memorable time for me. He treated us like royalty, showed us the Tea Estate and this Factory around explaining all aspects of best tea making. He was well respected by his people working under him. He had a very kind heart and always a smiling face. On our departure, he gave us a few Kgs of the most cherished BOP-grade tea, the top grade, which was such a 'wonder-tea' to enjoy tea-drinking. We enjoyed his and Gnanam Aunty's (his loving wife) hospitality very much. We always remembered this loving experience. I cannot forget the fact that in 2016 he insisted in coming to my late wife's funeral, although he was quite weak and was using a walker. That was the closeneess and love he had with his niece, my late wife. He was a gentle soul. We pray that his soul rest in peace and be happy with his maker.
