My Periathan has been a loving and caring brother-in-law. I still remember when I was 15 years old and he came to our house with Periya Mame with the idea of proposing to my sister. He used to call my mother ‘Acca’ until he was married and would call out ‘Acca’ from outside the house each time he came to visit. I have been fortunate to have him and my sister as second parents over the years. When I lost Ammah and Ayah they were the ones who looked after me, and I lived with them until they found me a suitable husband. When Kajen was born, Mahen was working in Saudi Arabia and it was Acca and Periathan who looked after me. When Suraba was born, Athan, Acca, Mahen, Sivanthan and Kala were all waiting outside the labour room. I can still hear them talking together. I will miss Periathan dearly and my thoughts and prayers are with Acca and family. May God bless them to endure the massive pain of their loss. He is no longer with us but he will forever be in our hearts. I will miss him very much, with tears. May his soul rest in peace. Love Gnanamani Mahendiran (Baby)
