My mind goes back to when Balasingha Annar was living with us while studying in Urumpirai Hindu college. He was a great companion to me and used to teach me in the evenings. I still remember the long walks with Annar to Uduvil Girls' College to see his sister Parameshwari Acca. He is a very flamboyant person and his presence can be felt in any functions. In fact he was the master of ceremony at my sister's wedding. He enjoys entertaining people and I was privileged to spend many a holidays with him in the hill country where he was stationed. The last time I met him was at my mother's funeral. It is unfortunate the illness has crippled him the last couple of years. We will miss a great soul.
