Yesterday afternoon, I heard the bad news. My long time friend, a teacher at heart, passed away because he stumbled and fell sometime back. As a result, he was homebound. Those of us in the seventies and eighties are prone to falling. In 2018, on our tour in China, we were taken to the Chinese Centre for traditional medicine. They offered foot massage to all the tour participants in the group. They emphasized the importance of foot massage. Chinese in China do not bathe daily, instead, they do foot massage to their family members, they said. They demonstrated how to do the foot massage. Back in Canada, I tried to do a foot massage. Because we are not accustomed to doing it and it is not in our tradition, I neglected it. But we do yoga. That is recognized in our custom. But treating feet with massaging I think it is important. It is winter in Canada. We do not want to go out for exercise. Further, it is lockdown for the next 3 to 4 weeks. We do not know when this menace is going away. This is my thought today. My heartfelt condolences to my friend Mr. Mahalingam's family and friends.
