I have known Prabha for more than forty years from our school days at Jaffna Central. A friendship of such a long period means we are a part of one large family where there are very little secrets and being scattered in all parts of the world did not prevent us from discussing our day to day challenges that we faced. We were regularly in contact at least a couple of times a month not only reminiscing on our school days but our current issues such as kids, schooling, investments, careers and the rest of our day to day lives. Whenever the opportunity arose, we made it a point to meet and enjoy each other’s company. In all this Prabha showed genuine concern and care for each of our best interests and was a very willing and helpful person. He was a person who was willing go the extra mile to support a friend. Prabha passed with distinction from the University of Jaffna and as it were during the challenging time of the eighties and nineties he migrated to UK where through sheer diligence and hard work he established a successful business. He did not ever forget his Alma Mater from Jaffna Central and along with us promoted the upgrading of its office facilities. True to his character he took the greater responsibility of its implementation. My family and I had the privilege of meeting with Prabha and his family who hosted us in October of 2019 in London, sadly we did not realize that it will be the last time we will be meeting each other. Prabha is the third person from our group to depart the others being Jana and Murali. It is a reminder of what we should cherish and value that is important and long lasting. If not for current times of lockdown and restricted international travel all of us would have certainly attended in person his final rites.
