இலங்கை யாழ் தொல்புரத்தை பிறப்பிடமாகவும், தற்போது ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்கா பொஸ்டன் நகரத்தில் வசித்தவருமான திரு. கந்தையா கனகராஜா அவர்கள் யூலை மாதம் 15ஆம் திகதி 2026, புதன்கிழமை அன்று இயற்கை எய்தினார்.

எங்களின் வழிகாட்டி

இன்று எங்கள் குடும்பம் ஈடு செய்ய முடியாத ஒரு பேரிழப்பை சுமந்து நிற்கிறது. எங்களுக்கு அன்பையும் அரவணைப்பையும் அயராது வழங்கி எங்களை வழிகாட்டிய தெய்வம் இறைவனின் பாதங்களில் சரணடைந்தது.

தன்னைச் சுற்றியுள்ளோரை அன்பால் அரவணைத்து, ஊக்கத்தால் உயர்த்தி, மனிதநேயத்தால் இணைத்த அரிய ஆன்மா அவர். அவர் இருக்கும் இடம் எப்போதும் கலகலப்பால் நிறைந்திருக்கும்.

அவரது பணிவு, நேர்மை, ஒழுக்கம், உறுதி, தன்னலமற்ற சேவை, நினைவாற்றல் போன்ற உயர்ந்த பண்புகளால் அனைவரையும் அரவணைத்து வழி நடத்தியவர். தொடர்ந்தும் எங்கள் மனங்களில் வாழ்ந்து வழி நடத்துவார்.

அவரது இழப்பு எங்கள் குடும்பத்திற்கு மட்டுமல்ல, அவரை அறிந்த அனைவரின் மனதிலும் ஈடு செய்ய முடியாத வெற்றிடத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

அவரது ஆன்மா இறைவனின் திருவடியில் சாந்தியடைய பிரார்த்திக்கிறோம். 

வையத்துள் வாழ்வாங்கு வாழ்பவன் வான்உறையும்
தெய்வத்துள் வைக்கப் படும்.”

Candiah Kanagarayer: A Friend to All, a Stranger to None

Candiah (Raja) Kanagarayer, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026 at his home in Medford, Massachusetts, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on June 14th, 1941 in Tholpuram, Sri Lanka and was the loving husband of Vignarany (Rasathi) for 53 years. His wife and their three children, Anusha, Kavitha, and Krishna, were the heart of his life, reflecting the deep importance he placed on family throughout his years.

Raja was most proud of his service with the U.S. Army from 1977 to 1995 in Iran and Germany, where he displayed tremendous dedication and leadership. He was regarded as a natural leader of the local Tamil community in Frankfurt, as he helped Tamils acclimate after emigrating from Sri Lanka and fostered a united Tamil community. In 1997, he moved with his family to the United States and made Boston their new home, where he cultivated a similar love for community with unmatched warmth and generosity.

Raja enriched everyone around him with his wisdom, charisma, and humor. He embraced life to the fullest and was revered by everyone who knew him for his unwavering care and compassion, always going out of his way to support others. He lived by the principle of always doing the right thing, guided by the values of punctuality, honesty, and loyalty. Deeply devoted to his family and friends, he remembered every important detail that made each of them feel special. Those who knew him will forever cherish the vivid stories he shared, which captivated and entertained everyone in the room.

He was the beloved son of the late Candiah and late Saraswathy Kanagarayer, and the cherished son-in-law of the late Thambaiyah and late Sivapakkiya Vallinayagam. He was the devoted father of Anusha, Kavitha, and Krishna; respected father-in-law of Arulambalam (Murali) and Sugunan; adored grandfather of Shreeram, Karthik, Luxmi, and Vishnu; beloved brother of Rajapushpam (Pillai) and late Anandapushpam (Kunchu); dear brother-in-law of late Eswarasaran, late Haridas, late Rajeswaran, late Ponmalar, Ramachandran, Kamalambikai, Vignaraja, late Shanthikumari, Yogalingam, Maharani, Alagarajah, Karuneswary, and late Pavalamalar; and loving uncle to Ramani, Chandra Subash, Rohini, Prasanna, Nilani, Kalani, Sangeetha, Shavindra, Sanjendra, Archana, and Ananthan.
