In reflecting the memories of late Anthonipillai Mary Nicholas, I met her twice before her exit from this planet. First time was in mid 1960s at Kayts. I was around six or seven years old. She was very modest and elegant with side parting hair style resembled the then famous actress. Second time was in mid 2000s at Melbourne, Australia. We spent a day with them at our place. While my younger brother was engaged with Aras Annan, I was attracted towards late Mary and initiated the conversation to hear her experiences of the memory lanes of the inroads that she walked through in her life. Such a self-confidence, Courage, brave and most importantly an HONEST lady was she. This time she did not resemble me as any actresses but reminded the characters of the Indian prime minister Indra Gandhi. I do not want to elaborate the whole of our conversation here, but I join my hands together and bow down to this lady. You had struggled and achieved enough to rest in peace on your own. However, I humbly ask you to accept my prayers too for you to reach more closely to the source of creation. As Thomas Hardy observes, we have two deaths. “The first is when we die; the second is when the last person who knew us dies”.
