Dear Vithiyan and Bala (Part 2) I was fully aware that your amma, as a pediatric specialist, played a major role in the Jaffna Medical College during a very difficult period. Only later when I became friendly with a few Jaffna qualified doctors who were taught by your amma, I fully realized her immense contribution during that period. Many of them still express a strong sense of gratitude - which speaks volumes about your amma’s role in shaping Jaffna’s health sector at that period. We are sad Karuna anni’s life could have been longer. However the consolation is she had such a meaningful and impactful life (fully immersed in temple related activities in the last two decades) and at the end did not have to go through any prolonged period of suffering. Perhaps that was the reward for leading a thoroughly purposeful life. We are sure your amma’s legacy will continue through you both and your families.
