Varathan was always gentle, has a kind-heart, very cultured, helpful and down-to-earth. Especially he was keeping close ties with his extended family. Everyone talks about his supportiveness to vulnerable and people in need, for instance students, people in poverty, handicap, etc. Also, Varathan supported hospitals, schools, and temples,. I admire his strength of character and kindness to everyone. Still I remember Varathan's smile and affectionate talk when he came to visit us in Canada. He used to visit my sister in Sri Lanka and took her to many historical places. My sister is very grateful to him for spending time with them and showing many places outside of home.
