It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Patriarch Mr. Subramaniam Vaithilingam fondly known as "Shroff Bank Of Ceylon", on 23 June 2026, at the remarkable age of 101.

Born on 4 July 1924 in Kondavil, Jaffna, he was the beloved son of the late Vaithilingam and Rasamma, and loving brother of the late Valliammai, Annapooranam, and Annamuthu. He was the devoted husband of late Parasakthy and a much-loved father to late Rohini Ramachandran, late Senthilkumar, Uthayakumar, Rajkumar, Dr. Selvakumar, Dineshkumar, and Janani Linga-Easwaran. He was a cherished father-in-law to Ramachandran, Malar, Yaso, Dr. Shanthi, Kiri, Linga-Easwaran, Sathiya, and Vana, a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 19 great-grandchildren.

A respected banker, community leader, and mentor, Shroff touched countless lives through his generosity, wisdom, and willingness to help others. His benevolence extended to many Tamil families across the world, helping people establish homes, businesses, and new beginnings. His kindness and guidance will be remembered for generations.

A true patriarch, he led his family with strength, integrity, and unwavering dedication. A determined perfectionist and man of deep faith, he inspired confidence, loyalty, and respect in all who knew him. His legacy lives on through his family, the communities he served, and the many lives he enriched.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
