Thatha has always been one of my role models because of his immeasurable work ethic, selflessness, and bhakti. When he was living with my family, he would walk 10+ miles a day to volunteer at the public library and the Pasadena Hindu temple without fail. One afternoon, my mother received a phone call and was told that Thatha was being rushed to the hospital because he had hurt himself while working at the temple. The next few hours were extremely difficult for my family and me because of concerned we were for his health. The thought of losing Thatha terrified me, but I was almost comforted by how many members of the temple community shared my concerns. Thatha touched so many lives after living in California for only a couple of years. Even though he is no longer with us, Thatha will continue to serve as an inspiration for how live and his values will always be instilled in me. May his soul rest in peace.
