Balasundaram uncle was a great man. I was saddened when I heard he has passed away. I came to the UK for the first time in 1989 on holiday and wanted to stay there. Then I approached Balasundaram uncle, and he was one of the few who gave me legal assistance and promised me his further help if I wanted to stay. He always helps others if he can. He is very soft and always very humble in his approach towards others. He loved his people. In the very beginning of our struggle for independent statehood, he took many risks and offered his help to liberation movements. During that time, very few people and professionals gave their political and material support to help to establish the activities. He was one of those few. He continued to believe in independent statehood for Tamils. His thoughts were very progressive, and he treated every single human being with dignity and respect.
