Ariam- We called you-Ariam- from the time you were born. He was not simply my cousin but a willing friend who would come to our help when we are in need. We grew up as neighbors seperated by a simple fence. As my parents were married into each other, we grew up together sharing our good and bad times, pain and sorrows together. Before he arrived in Canada, he was working for a ship; when the ship anchored in the port of Alabama, he jumped the ship and came to New York as a short term stop. When he phoned me I told him to cross over to Canada which he did very boldly and worked tirelessly in Toronto. His tireless toil in Toronto and sumpathetic heart allowed him to help his family particularly -Balan, his handicap brother-be able to sponsor them to come to Canada, whose family was able to find a good life for themselves in Toronto. We shared many common stories whenever he called me in Vancouver, which and his unassuming smile, me and my wife Ranji, will be missing for ever. We extend our sympathies to his wife, two sons, nephew Anbu and the rest of the family in Canada and Sri Lanka. Ariam, we pray our family Theivam-Kali Amman-that your soul rest in peace for ever.
