பிராத்திக்கின்றோம்
The below condolence published by Aynkaran Markandu on behalf of Mr Davinda
''S T Markandu was a man I greatly admired. It is rarely that we are able to enjoy
the company of men of his calibre. He was a man who was able to decide
correctly on what needs to be done for the benefit of the people and ensure
that his team of public servants, delivered as promised. The people of
Vavuniya will always remember him as a man, who during a war time situation,
ensured that the people felt safe and secure irrespective of their ethnic or
religious background. He belonged to a rare breed of leaders.
After retired from the Public Service, he was recalled, during
the Peace Process in 2002, to serve under the Secretary to the Prime
Minister Mr Bradman Weerakoon, at the Prime Ministers Office. It was during
this period that he was able to demonstrate his sensitivity to the question
of National Reconciliation. With his wide experience at every level of
governance, he was able to provide valuable insights on - How to Unite the
People of Sri Lanka after a Long and Bloody War. Mr Markandu was one of the key
architects of the National Strategic Plan for Reconciliation, which was
formulated with multi stakeholder inputs from a diversity of ethnic,
religious and social groups. It was indeed a very humanitarian plan designed
to Integrate the People of Sri Lanka at the Emotional, Social, Intellectual
and Operational levels. Mr Markandu's sincere contribution to the Crying Need
for Peace and Harmony in the country, will definitely bring rich rewards in his
Samsaric Journey.
May he awaken to the Bliss of Moksha."
From Mr & Mrs Devinda & son Geshan.
