Dear Selva We would like to express our sincere condolences to you and your family. Shanmuganathan Annai had a great impact on many young boys when he lived in Thirunelvelly in the 1950s. He was the most senior sportsman at that representing Parameshwara College in Cricket, Soccer, and Athletics. We watched many of the matches where he would exhibit his aggressive style of batting in the most elegant style. In the soccer field, we would see him in most action during the game in the midfield position. He was willing ‘coach ‘to many of us at the Young Men’s Hindu Association youth club. He carried his leadership qualities as a prefect of the college to organize the library and sporting events at the youth club. He was such a selfless person who opened up his residence whenever we needed it for drama practice and rehearsals for fundraising for the association. He motivated as well helped many to join his alma mater in India and complete degree programs. As a young man, he was a very kind and compassionate person who helped many in his communities and naturally was very popular among elders as well as youngsters. He remained the same humble person and continued to help others in their academic and professional endeavors when I met him in Anuradhapura while he was working at Mahilupalama. My wife Ranji and I met him and his family later in Boynton, Florida and London England and had the opportunity to reminisce about his experience while settling down in the USA. He was a very tough personality when it came to challenges and always made a great impression with whomever he came into contact with. We will miss him as much as you and your family and friends. May his soul Rest in Peace. With Loving Thoughts. Raj and Ranji Thiagarajah Toronto.
Our deepest sympathies to you Nangi Akka and family. Sashi Thuraisingham ( Thevi Akka's daughter from Sydney Australia)
