Accept our heartfelt condolences on the sudden loss of your dearest mother, our beloved Mami Ratnam. It happens to be her birthday today (7th May) and it brings back to us a lot of lovely memories of her close association with us individually and as a family. She was the youngest of eight in her family and my father Arumugam was the eldest. I still recall her teaching me to write Tamil alphabets on the sand in the courtyard of our grandparents. She was a good teacher, but very strict. The last time I met her was in Sri Lanka in 2016 when we had the opportunity to reminisce the lived experiences over many years of intertwining life of our families and extended families. Mami was an intelligent, well educated and a great conversationalist who loves the company of people, a family trait I must say. She will be sadly missed by us all, but her memory will remain with us forever.
