My earliest memories of Vicky Sithappa are from the many school holidays spent playing badminton in our backyard, with him watching over as Athe and I climbed the tree in our front yard and made our little ‘stews’. I remember him gently navigating the chaos of Athe and me fighting over our ridiculous box of ‘special things’. I have memories of Vicky Sithappa helping me learn to ride a bike. Vicky Sithappa had a certain ease and lightness about him — a quiet do-er — extremely intelligent and never missing the chance to crack a quick joke with that cheeky smile. He loved being playful with the children and the kids adored their Vicky Paata. Although we will miss you deeply, we are comforted by the stories and memories that will remain with us always.
