I'm very sad about the loss of a most beloved aunt. This is now the 3rd death in our family in just a matter of weeks to a few months. Periamma was such a powerhouse of a woman. Very intelligent, independent, incredibly strong and resilient, and deeply religious and dutiful. She always inspired me to think about how I should carry myself and deal with challenges in my life. I still remember our first trip to England where we stayed with her when I was very little, she always made sure I was taken care of, would pack special snacks just for me when we went on trips from her house. She taught me about different Hindu festivals and Tamil words. I still remember her drying my hair with a towel and combing it so that I would not catch cold as a child. My heart goes out to my beloved cousins, nephews, and little niece, whom I know are completely heart broken. It is so hard to lose a parent at any age. There are truly no words to describe the pain that will last a life time. With Periamma's passing, we have now lost all of our beloved uncles in England and one beloved aunt. We were fortunate enough to come from a family and culture where our aunts and uncles were like 2nd parents to us and loved us like their own kids. They may not have known it, but they are our real life superheroes. I just cannot imagine a world where they are not there. God Bless Periamma. I miss you.
