MRS PARIPOORANAM RAJASUNDARAM- A GRASCIOUS LADY I first came to know Mrs Rajasundaram as the wife of my close friend and Former Principal of Victoria College Chullipuram, through my close friend and batch mate Late Tissa Satharasinghe who was the Personal security Officer, To Late Mr T.B.Illangartna in 1971. Mrs Rajasundaram was blessed with three sons and a daughter, Deva, Seignthan ( SAM), Niruthan, and Paran. She was a very faithful spouse and a dedicated mother, mother-in-law, Grand mother and a great grand mother to the family. My short stint in Jaffna as an intelligence officer in 1973 brought me closer to the “RAJASUNDARAMS”, along with their celebration of the 25th Wedding Anniversary in 1974. Their house was an open house. My wife and my sisters, too came to know them as if they were of their own. Mrs Rajasundram and her husband were good entertainers. The assassination of Mr Rajasundaram was a shock to all of us and it was at this stage Mrs Rajasundram became part of our family when she decided to live with us briefly till she obtained a UK visa to join Deva and her husband Kanto. Many years later when she lived with Deva and Kanto in the UK, my family used to spend our vacations with them in Cockfosters, London. Mrs Rajasundaram, took the task of providing us with sumptuous meals and gave us the best attention. She was very fond of my two children Shevanthie and Navin, not excluding my wife Damayanthie. She had a heart of Gold! Mrs Rajasundram was a very devout Hindu who never failed in her religious obligations. She believed in living within her means. Never greedy for things she could not afford. She firmly believed, being patient, and gave to those who were in need, willingly and gave to those who deserved in the form of charity. She was able to focus on other’s needs. . MRS Rajasundram “People may forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”! My prayer as a Christian is, God Will grant you eternal rest. NIHAL DE ALWIS
