From when I was 8 years old until we last saw each other a little more than a year ago, you always greeted me with kindness. You were always so friendly to me, whether it was a chance encounter on the street in our neighbourhood, at the park, or when I would come over to your home to spend time with your son. The last time we met, I vividly remember you coming out to say hello to me when I dropped off your son. Your smile was so bright, even though we merely exchanged greetings. Your son told me how he was surprised to see you so spry suddenly. Although brief, that memory is etched into my heart forever. You helped raise such wonderful and amazing children, and I am so grateful for everything that you went through to come to Canada. Because of your efforts, I have a best friend for life. You will forever live within his heart, so I am glad that I can remember your kind eyes and smile every time I see your son. Rest in peace, Mr. Namasivayam.
