We, of the Chelladurai clan from Thirunelvelly, Jaffna, are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Muthulingam Annai. As second cousins, we shared a close and well-defined family lineage through our great-grandparents, Sivakamasundary and Sinniah. Our grandmothers, Marimuthu and Thangamuthu, were sisters, and our parents, Thangachipillai and Chelladurai, were first cousins. As the eldest among them, Chelladurai naturally assumed a paternal role, caring for and guiding his younger cousins with kindness, responsibility, and generosity. Muthulingam Annai was a leader and a role model to many of us. He distinguished himself early through both academic and extracurricular excellence, serving as a prefect and house leader and excelling in soccer at Parameshwara College, Jaffna. He was also an active and committed member of the Thirunelvelly Young Men’s Hindu Association. He graduated from the University of Ceylon with a BA (Honours) degree and later earned a Diploma in Education. His teaching career at Mahajana College reflected his dedication to education and youth development; he served not only as a teacher but also as Prefect of Games and a sports coach. In time, he went on to serve as Principal of three leading colleges in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and educators. After immigrating to Toronto, Muthulingam Annai continued his lifelong commitment to community service. He remained actively involved with three Tamil Seniors’ Associations and played a central role as convener and organizer of the Thirunelvelly YMHA – Toronto branch, fostering connection, cultural continuity, and service among the diaspora. His passing will be deeply felt by family members, friends, fellow educators, former students, and community members across the world. May his soul rest in peace.
So sorry to hear the news. Just now, I heard the news. Rest in Peace. Master.
