We are incredibly sorry to hear about the loss of our dear and intimate friend, Ravindren Kandiah, whom we affectionately called Ravi. It is never easy to find the right words to share such heartbreaking news. I had been a close friend of Ravi's since we were bachelors living at Ramakrishna Mission in Colombo, preparing for our accounting studies. We continued our friendships as families, spanning more than half a century. He even visited us when he came to Dubai for business in the late 1970s. Two years back, we met him at his residence in Kotahena, though he was not in the best of spirits. Later on, Ravi used to call me with the assistance of his wife, Shashi, at suitable times and we had good conversations. Lately, there were no calls from Ravi. We tried calling a few times but couldn't reach him, and suddenly we were informed this sorrowful news, today. Our deepest sympathies go out to Ravi's beloved wife Shashi, their children and all their relatives and friends. May Ravi's soul rest in peace. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
