I have known Ram since the early nineties through the work we did together at the Association of Sri Lankan Graduates of Canada (ASGC). This was the time many Sri Lankan displaced professionals were coming into Canada and struggling to find employment to make a living. I still remember the first day I met Ram, with the ever-smiling face he did not have any hesitation in joining ASGC. Ram was also new to the country and going through the same difficulties but decided to join ASGC and contribute some of his time to find solutions to the issues we professionals had at that time. Since then I have worked with him on many different projects and we had become family friends. Ram's contribution to the work of ASGC not only helped Sri Lankan professionals but also the professionals from around the world. Ram may not be with us today but memories of his ever-smiling face and the impact of his work to the society will be felt by many newcomers to Canada ever.
