I first met Sorna at College House Hostel of the University of Ceylon, where many students pursuing professional courses resided. We soon became friends, brought together by our shared love of Carnatic music and many enjoyable conversations. Our friendship deepened further when we worked together at the General Hospital, Batticaloa. Sorna was serving as a House Officer, while my wife and I were working there as Dental Surgeons. Those were happy days, and I have many fond memories of the time we spent together. When Sorna moved to U.K. for higher studies, my wife and I had the pleasure of staying with him in his home in London for a short visit. Despite the distance, our friendship remained strong. Whenever he came to Colombo, he would make it a point to visit us, a gesture that reflected the warmth that was such an integral part of his character. Sorna was a gentle, kind-hearted, and gracious soul. He treated everyone with respect and compassion, and his friendly nature endeared him to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, his many friends, colleagues, and the countless patients whose lives he touched with care and kindness.
