A tribute to Kanagalingam Athan In life we often meet people who are humble, patient and kind. But it is rare that we meet people with all of these qualities. Athan was such a person who possessed all of these traits, in addition he was jovial and a devoted father. I came to know him after his marriage to my first cousin Sathi acca. Since we were immediate neighbours in Urumpirai, I became more familiar with Athan. Then again when Athan’s family came to live in Wellawatte I visited them often and our bond became stronger. I remember the good days that Athan was in charge of the main parcel office in Colombo, helping our people to clear their foreign parcels with reasonable duty. Athan, you devoted most of your life for the wellbeing of your children by going through thick and thin in various places. It has paid you good results and they have looked after you well.
