We are immensely saddened and shocked to learn of Wimal Uncles’ sudden passing. It is with a heavy heart that we write this tribute. My father and Wimal Uncle were long-time friends from Sri Lanka and always admired each other’s talents and achievements. He was as passionate as my father in encouraging, commending and celebrating artists. When my father passed away 2 years ago, and during his first-year remembrance, Wimal Uncle send us tributes praising my father and his achievements. It feels very surreal that we are in the unfortunate position to provide a tribute to uncle, so soon. My parents always praised Wimal Uncle’s talents, and achievements and were never short of astonishment. They told us how Wimal Uncle’s Radio Ceylon broadcast achievements were in a league of its own. My Amma never failed to read his Sunday Veerakesary column “Wimal from London”, which he always shared with my parents. Just a few weeks before his untimely passing, Uncle sent us news of his upcoming book launches in Canada and Australia. God has plucked a beautiful flower from His garden; may that flower decorate His heavenly home. Our deepest sympathies to Wimal Uncle’s family. Our prayers for his soul to rest in peace.
I am saddened to hear of the loss of my brother, Our Heartfelt Condolences to his Family. May His Soul Rest In Peace
