Shocked and profoundly saddened to hear the demise of my great friend Siva. We both were born & bred in the same village of Alaveddy and had our early education there. Then moved to different schools for our A/L. However, we both entered the same medical school at Peradeniya. After qualifying we moved to UK for post graduate studies. We both had the opportunity of working together at Peterborough District General Hospital in UK. After obtaining post graduate qualifications and training in Obs & Gynae in UK , Siva decided to return to Srilanka to serve the people there. He was posted as a consultant to Batticaloa. Incidentally Siva delivered my brother's boys at his hospital. He later migrated to Melbourne. Siva & I have been members of an Alaveddy temple annual 'Thiruvizha committee '(after our parents). We used to meet regularly at the annual festivel time and plan our day of the festivel. He was such a pleasant person with a smile on his face always. I will be very sad to miss him. May he rest in Peace. Om Shanthi, Shanthi Shanthi.
On behalf of the Sivabalan family I wish to sincerely thank each one of you for your kind words of sympathy and support at this difficult time.
