Dr. Sumathy Thayalan was born in Jaffna, Srilanka and lived in New Malden, UK and passed away peacefully on the 28th of December 2022.

Beloved wife of Dr. Samuel Thayalan.

Loving and devoted mother of Rachael and Romesh Thayalan. 

Caring daughter of late Mr. M.C. Francis(Retired Teacher at Jaffna Hindu College and St. Johns College) and late Mrs. Thangarani Francis (Retired teacher at Jaffna Chundikuli Girls’ College).

Loving daughter in law of late Mr. & Mrs. Aingarapillai.

Cherished sister of Dr. Sugendrini Francis(USA), Professor Samuel Asokanthan(Canada) and Mrs. Malathi Jeeva(nee Francis- Canada).

Loving sister in law of Mrs. Ranjini Jeyasundaram (Germany), Mrs. Jeyanthini Loganathan (Batticalo, Sri-Lanka), Ms. Subathira Asokanthan (Canada), Mr. Harold Jeeva (Canada).

Treasured and loyal friend to many, provider of light to every room she graced.

Past pupil of Jaffna Chundikuli Girls' College and Jaffna University Faculty of Medicine.

We will miss you Sumathy, Mum, Sumathy acca,  Mama T, Sumi, Dr. Thayalan!!
