Dear Raja This letter is solely written to you. I am fully aware of your demise, but I thought I should address this letter directly to you. Has you can very well remember we were in the same A/L class at Royal college. We had a very close friendship, meeting most evenings at Tamil Sangam for our private lessons going to Errol Fernando's chemistry lessons on a Saturday afternoon and on Sundays meeting up at the Wellawatte coffee shop and spending most evenings there chatting away. I can also remember we used to go to the Wellawatte temple every Friday. You used to spend nearly 45 minutes to a hour praying when I would have finished in 15 minutes. After that we end up at Greenlands to have our Dinner. I spent lot of time at your home too, which was my second home and got to know your late parents and your siblings very well. Then I came to the UK in 1981 and settled down in Swansea. since then our meetings have been very irregular due to you settling down in Petts wood and me being in Swansea. The last time we had a chat was when you gave me a call following my mother's death, when you updated me about your family, about your retirement and spending lot of time and effort with the temple. At that time you told me that you were fit and well and enjoying your retirement. Then suddenly I get the news saying that you were seriously ill and in the ITU and then you passed away peacefully. This was a real shock to myself, because I never thought that this will happen to you, Raja in the prime of your life. Hence I thought I should write this letter directly addressed to you, hoping one of your family members will read it loud to you, so that you will be able to hear my fond memories of our friendship. I am extremely aware that your demise has been a great loss to your dear wife and your two sons and to your siblings whom I remember fondly. God bless
