Dr Rukmani Devi Kandappoo who passed away peacefully on 15 October 2023.

She is the second daughter of late Mr. & Mrs. Kandappoo;

Wife of Dr K M M A Cassim;

Stepmother of Amani;

Sister of late Sarojini Devi, Pathma Devi, late Dr Parameswary Devi, Dr Mylvaganam, late Annaluxmy Devi, Rathivathana, late Rasiah and Balaganeshan;

Sister in law of late Nagalingam, Puvanendrampillai, Kalarany, Ganeshalingam and Sri Vishnu Mohan;

Aunt of Subashini and Craig, Dr Senthurunand Dr Natalie, Dr Dushyanthan and Thushyanthy, Vidhya and Nishanth, Dr Kalyani and BalaMuhunthan, Dr Kumaran and Dr Vidya and Ahilan;

Great aunt of Kishan, Meena, Reya, Vinesh, Hari, Anjali, Mylan, Izzy, Veera, Leela, Vivan and Suri.

She was a past pupil of Methodist Girls’ High School and Hartley College Point Pedro. Graduated from Peradeniya Medical School and worked at Kandy General Hospital and Akurana Hospital. In the UK she worked in ENT and Blood Transfusion specialties.

She was a versatile netball player and captained the school team, had a talent for art and painting and was a good violin player. She was an exceedingly kind human being, the matriarch for all the family members, interested in their progress and motivated all to give their best.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her family.
