To my dearest uncle Sothy ?? I have the fondest memories of you and Pooperi. The pair of you together were so adorable. The moment we’d walk into your place you would offer us all sorts of treats, most of which we were not allowed to have at home. You were filled with love and warmth and had the funniest sense of humour. You would joke around with whilst keeping a straight face and it would take me a while to figure out that you were just having a laugh! I have a wonderful memory of you taking us to a restaurant in a Sri Lankan hotel when I was about 7 years old. You were so interested in talking to me and made me feel important. You said that I was rich because I had £5 in my piggy bank and you praised me for saving so much money. You had the god-given gift of making others feel special regardless of their circumstances. You used to take us to Kin Ross beach at the bottom of the road where you lived. I was scared of the sea, having had a previous near drowning experience, but you insisted on carrying me into the sea and made me jump when huge waves were closing in. You were determined to teach me something about I was not yet ready to learn. You truly were a selfless and humble man who cared so much for others, often to the detriment of yourself. I found you to be humorous, kind and sincere. I can still hear your gentle voice and only wish I’d heard you speak your truth more. Then again, maybe there was wisdom in your silence. May you be laying down in the lap of the gods now. You will find another way to express your eternal soul and sparkle from wherever you Sending you a huge hug ? Your loving niece Keshini xxx
Sending our heartfelt condolences to you all.
