I have had the honour and great pleasure to know Vimal since he joined Liberty 1 week after I did in the UK in 1997. We have enjoyed some great events together and I cannot recount the vast number of times that we have laughed and enjoyed our tumultuous rise and success. His wry sense of humour is one that was unique and perhaps not many would have known him for but it was certainly one of the most entertaining. We have travelled together on many occasions, Russia, Ukraine, Nigeria, Dubai, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka but to mention a few and from each trip I takeaway the laughter and joyous time spent with him amidst the throws of our work. He was without doubt one of the most loyal and generous people. Together with a fiery temper and a habit of being direct and to the point with a resounding laugh that will echo with me for the rest of my life. I had the good fortune to talk with him as did my other colleagues in Sri Lanka as he had reached out to all of us only the day before his passing. He often talked of his daughter of whom he was so proud. Her accomplishments were shared with us all and it was evident that she had inherited his independence, perseverance, work ethic and desire for excellence. He was much loved and shall be greatly missed by myself and his colleagues here in Sri Lanka. Together with our love and friendship we say goodbye to him and send our deepest condolences to both his wife, daughter and family.
