Paul Uncle was one of a kind. As a kid, I remember he saw us children as young adults long before anyone else did and before we ourselves even considered ourselves as such. He engaged in real conversations with us in a way that sparked interest in all of us to learn more so we could come back to him and talk more about it. He, himself, would go home after our conversations and return to us next time with something in his hand - a newspaper article, a book, or once, a CD that he made himself, etc - which contained something that he picked out specifically to give to us. Our curiosity developed in talking to him, and then he would break out the harmonium or the piano and mix it all up with a lot of fun. Thank you for showing us a meaningful way to engage with children. Thank you for inspiring me to never stop learning, and to never stop being excited by learning. I hope to live up to your expectations of me from all of our conversations! Rest in peace.
