I was very fortunate to have been cared for, raised by and loved by Ammamma. I fondly cherish the many memories we created - she took a keen interest in all of my childish toys and games, which I only now realise must have been immensely boring for her but for which I am very grateful. Her soft spoken, mild mannered and calm disposition, together with her unwavering patience and humility, are all traits that I seek to emulate and to pass to her great-grandchildren. She also had a relentless thirst for knowledge and took great pleasure in exercising her mental faculties, spending many hours on crosswords and sudoku puzzles. I can still hear the distinctive but quiet clink of her bangles as she walked through our home - I will carry that comforting sound with me for the remainder of my days. Rest in eternal peace, Ammamma.
