My dear friend, Niroshan I have known you from the age of 5. Through we were not the closest of friends yet we have had our fair share of adventures. We have got into trouble with our teachers for mischief and have enjoyed street food that we were not meant to eat. We have enjoyed Jackie Chan movies and viewed magazines that were inappropriate for our age. We have shared ice cream while commenting on the passing school girls! You were always generous with your time and possessions. You gave me all the tennis stars’ posters from your sports star magazine even without asking. We have played at each other’s homes and met our parents. When you nearly broke a window in my house with the cricket ball, I was happy to take the blame for hitting the ball! So you will come back to play again. You always remembered it. Years later when we spoke on the phone, you asked me to meet and have a drink. Life got in the way and I thought I would get more opportunities to meet. I wish I had taken you up on the offer. I can’t believe you have been taken away so early. Your kindness will live through your children. So long my dear old friend! Time and distance may have kept us apart but the fondness, memories and affection shall for ever stay young in my heart.
