Mr.Sivapatham was a man of strong convictions. His abiding interest in humanity found its manifestation when people in Jaffna were made helpless to buy even their daily provisions in those trying days. When they came to him for help he gave them whatever he had in his store free and it was really a gesture of goodwill and many couldn’t help shedding tears. He had a vision to enrich the people at large by creating employments in and around his locality .One project was that he joined hands with some local entrepreneurs to start an ice factory and cold house with the aim of launching into seafood export. But the subsequent events in the country brought everything to complete standstill and many migrated to Canada. Long before many thought of spreading the YOGA as means to build strong citizens, Mr Sivapatham in his own modest way thought of popularizing YOGA in Jaffna. He was an adept in that skill and he made it a point to spread this yoga to young and old. His demise is just as if one has gone into deep slumber without any signs of death pain. He reminds me of the Kural 340 Uranguvathu Polum sakkadu, urrangi Vizhippathu polum prappu (Death is sinking into slumber deep,birth again is waking out of sleep) Our deepest condolences to his kith and kin at their irreparable bereavement.
