Mr N.s Thambirajah
1926 - 2024

With the mixture of emotions, I write a message of tribute to my dear uncle Late Mr. N.S Thambirajah former Railway Station Master of Ceylon Government Railway. No doubt that he was an example for a true gentleman and a humble human being. He was role model for many people in his life as a loving uncle to specially to his nieces and nephews. His interaction with kindness, and gentleness to those who touched life was utterly amazing. These are not only my pronouncement but all my siblings, all those who dearly loved him like I did and especially his coworkers from CGR association collaborated with him for many years. I have found him to be spotlessly respectable decent, hardworking, honest decent faithful family person. He was thrifty however guiltlessly remarkable person without envious or greediness. Indeed, it is woeful we realize the value of a great sole after their departure. I have countless good memories of interactions with my uncle “NST.” I recollect as a child I stood with dear mother and enjoying his wedding ceremony by the side of the wedding alter (“Manavarai”) which was the first, of all my uncles grand wedding which took place at my grand parent’s house “Saraswathy Vasa” Manipay. I remember having Vacationing at his house at “Puliyamkulam” station with his family. During my lonely days at Colombo as an apprentice I met up with him very frequently at Fort Railway station main Inquires where he was working. I looked upon for his advice, guidance, and kind words as a young man. I stood and watched him working extremely busy answering amazingly lot of phones round him nonstop for entire day one after other without loosing his temperament and maintained his equilibriums. Weely, I used to visit him at his Dehiwala doweling to be and spend time with him. Even now every time I polish my shoes even now, I think of him as he taught me how to polish and take care of it. May his sole rest in peace. Ananda KUMAR (Canada)
