Our deepest sympathies to the family in this very sad hour. But in this brief moment, that might feel like an eternity, where time stands completely still - what wakes in me is very fond memories of uncle… the time where he drove the whole family to meet us in Umtata, my first moment of connection with the family and Katpaham - a foundational moment that has cemented our friendship to now, and that of the next generation (his grandchildren with my kids), that moment in Mafikeng a decade later when we jumped into the back of a bakkie to drive through a nature reserve and share in his love of bird watching, to my last memories of him over two decades later as he attended my daughters birthday and reminded me that we were indeed related. In everyone of these touch points, what lingers was his laugh and gentle smile. RIP uncle - you’ve touched many over many moments and leave many fond memories for us to remember you by.
